Healthy People Healthy Carolinas

With Support from Health People, Healthy Carolinas, an initiative of the Duke Endowment

Healthy Tri-County's (HTC) six year relationship with the Duke Endowment began in 2019. Health People, Healthy Carolinas (HPHC) is an initiative designed to help communities in North and South Carolina address chronic health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

To be successful, everyone must get involved. That's why we're engaging leaders in health care, public health, social services, government, education, business, and faith communities. The organizations shaping the way we live, learn, work, pray, and play must combine efforts and work collaboratively to address the health challenges we face as a community, rather than going at it alone.

Our Tri-County programs will improve community health and health outcomes by focusing specially on...

Nutrition

Nutrition is the process of providing or obtaining the food necessary for health growth. A person's diet contributes to the risk of related chronic diseases.

Prevention of Chronic Disease

Health-related quality of life measures helps characterize the burden of disabilities and chronic diseases in a population. Chronic diseases are the leading cause of death and disability in America, and they are also a leading driver of health care costs. Most chronic diseases can be prevented by eating well, being physically active, avoiding tobacco and excessive drinking, and getting regular health screenings.
