Tax Season is Here- How you can help

Trident United Way is pleased to announce its designation as an official Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program sponsor, with appointments beginning in early 2025. This initiative will offer no-cost tax filing services to eligible residents in Berkeley, Dorchester, and Charleston counties. Now in its 10th year, the VITA program supports individuals and families with limited incomes by helping them maximize refunds and strengthen their financial well-being.

“We recognize that tax season can be overwhelming for many households, which is why we are committed to offering this essential service,” said Angelina Williams, Director of Community Initiatives at Trident United Way. “By providing free tax assistance, we help Tri-County residents access the refunds they deserve and work toward long-term financial security.”

What is VITA?

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation to individuals earning $60,000 or less, older adults, individuals with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency. Supported by IRS-certified volunteers, Trident United Way’s VITA program simplifies tax filing and provides guidance to those who need it most.

VITA Sites and Appointment Scheduling

This year, we’re offering free tax preparation services at multiple locations across the Tri-County area to ensure accessibility and convenience. Appointments are scheduled through SC 211, making it easy for clients to find a location that works best for them.
