Trident United Way (TUW) is pleased to announce the 2024-2025 Changemaker Grants first round is for Capacity Building. The Changemaker Grants allow TUW to mobilize resources and empower nonprofits dedicated to making a positive impact in the Tri-County community. Grants will be awarded in cycles, each with a specific data driven focus, investing in the areas of greatest impact for TUW and its partners while aligning with TUW priorities.
The first Grant focusing on Capacity Building Funding is an investment in the effectiveness, efficacy, and future sustainability of a nonprofit or agency by providing resources to improve and/or expand an organization and its mission. It can enhance operational and organizational structures and long-term goals. Capacity building grants, therefore, focus not on the outward-facing work but the inner workings, means and systems of the organization. Overview of the Capacity Building Changemaker Grant Application Process:
- Applicant Criteria:
- Organization is currently providing services and has been for at least one year
- Organization must be able to provide 990 or 990EZ
- Organization must be able to provide standard documentation required (501c3, Sec. of State Registration, BOD, Non-Discrimination Policy, etc.)
- Organization must be registered with the SC Secretary of State
Nonprofit organizations interested in applying for the grant must attend one of the Information Sessions offered by Trident United Way. The purpose of the information session is to provide an overview of the criteria required for the grant and to clarify the application process. Two in person sessions are offered, both will be at Trident United Way, 6296 Rivers Ave., N. Charleston. It is strongly recommended that the Grant Contact or person writing the grant be present at the Information Session to best understand the application and criteria for funding.

If the organization’s representative attended a previous Changemaker Grant Info Session, we are offering a virtual Session, however it must be the same individual who attended in person, now attending the virtual. This is for the best interests of applying organizations, so all of the information is well-understood and comprehended.
Wednesday 9/18/2024 Info Session - Virtual 9am-10:30am
Space at the information sessions will be limited and therefore, we ask that organizations register here as soon as possible and limit attendees to two people per organization. The in-person Information Sessions will be held at TUW, on the 2nd floor Board Room, 6296 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston.
