A Coroner's Perspective on Prescription Overdose Prevention

The Coroner's Office started a collaboration with a local pharmacist and the county drug and alcohol commission to collaboratively address prescription overdoses. We created PEPPI (Prescription Education Partnership and Prevention Initiative) to address pharmacy students from MUSC on real scenarios being seen in Berkeley County. We are currently expanding the PEPPI Program to include other medical professionals and students.
Implementing Nutrition and Physical Activity through a School-based Wellness Model

MUSC BCCW Registered Dietitian and Associate Medical Director will discuss implementing best nutrition and physical activity practices within a school-based setting. This session will provide participants with an expanded knowledge of physical activity, school nutrition policy, and system guidelines. Participants will learn practical tips to support their local school district in wellness efforts.
Moving From Talk to Action with Results Based Accountability

This course provides an overview and foundational principles of Results-Based Accountability (RBA), which is a disciplined way of thinking and acting to improve entrenched and complex social problems and create measurable change in people’s lives, communities and organizations. RBA uses a data-driven, decision-making process to help communities and organizations get beyond talking about problems to taking action to solve problems and improve the performance of programs.

Advocates will learn important factors to know when working with faith communities such as spiritual abuse, misconceptions in the faith community around nonprofits, resourcing faith communities and more.
