Dr. Kathleen C. Head is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at MUSC, Associate Medical Director of the Boeing Center for Children's Wellness, and Program Director for the Med-Peds Residency Program. She earned a BS in Nutrition and an MS in Health Promotion Management and has experience as a Health Promotion Specialist for the government and Research Associate at the Institute of Medicine. After completing med-peds residency at MUSC, she pursued an Academic Generalist Fellowship, earning an MPH and a Culinary Coaching certificate. She is board certified in Lifestyle Medicine and serves patients at Med-Peds clinic and MUSC’s pediatric weight management program. Since 2018, Dr. Head has been working with the MUSC Boeing Center for Children’s Wellness to innovate and expand comprehensive school-based wellness programming across South Carolina which bring disease preventing policy, systems, and environmental change strategies to schools across 20 districts in SC. She is a leader in the “food is medicine movement” as co-chair for the APA Nutrition SIG and a Food is Medicine SC Committee, and the Continuing Education Activity Director for the SC Peds Healthy Lifestyles Learning Collaborative. In her free time, Dr. Head enjoys creating new recipes, watching Philadelphia sports with her son, and practicing Pilates.
