Sydney Conrad is a life-long learner and advocate. She has spent decades volunteering for or working for nonprofit organizations serving individuals and groups in need in the community. For 8 years she served as the Director of Education and Training for My Sister’s House, a Tri-County serving agency for individuals who have experienced abuse in their relationships. In that role she worked tirelessly to provide education to the community and local providers to support their understanding and recognition of types of abuse, learn healthy behaviors within relationships, how to safely support a peer experiencing abuse, and accessing resources for support during, while leaving or after leaving an abusive relationship. Her work as a domestic violence educator continues with the faith community and with organizations in need. She now works as the Assistant Director of Student Engagement with the Honors College at the College of Charleston. In this role she leads all first-year Honors students through a year-long course covering topics such as civic engagement, social justice, advocacy, and much more while also overseeing their participation in a year-long service learning commitment with a local nonprofit organization or campus partner.
In her free time you can find her outdoors with her two daughters, Beatrice and Cleo, and her husband.
